A domain name is relevant to your business if you wish to have a web presence.  This does not mean that you need a web site just yet but it will give a professional appearance when using it for your emails and protects your identity when you are ready to build your own web site.

If you leave it too late to register your domain name you may find that another company has already purchased it and is using the name that you require to sell irrelevant products/services that could be degrading to your business.  Therefore, it is very important to register your domain name at the same time as deciding upon a name for your company so that you can protect your identity and also be consistent with your web presence.

Should you not be able to purchase the domain name that you require then help is at hand to try to purchase it for you.  We can either make an offer to the company that already owns that name or we can find you a suitable alternative to use i.e smithscloths could already be purchased but smiths-cloths could be available.

Always think carefully when choosing a domain name as this can say a lot about your business i.e you would want to use the same name as your company or one simular that reflects the type of business that you are in.

There are thousands of domain names to choose from and we will help you to find one suitable for you and then register it on your behalf and keep it hosted on our secure servers until you are ready to use it for your emails and/or your website.  Each domain is normally registered for either 1 or 2 years and sometimes you can save money by opting to register it for longer (if this option is available.)

Terminology

Domain Type:  this is what your domain name would end with i.e www.juniper.co.uk or www.juniper.org.uk.  If you are running a business from within the UK most people tend to purchase a domain name extension ending with .co.uk or if in the USA an extension ending in .com would be more suitable.

(you cannot purchase a domain extension belonging to another country unless you actually own a business or have a resident address out there i.e .fr (france) or .ca (canada) although there are various ways around this problem it is not advised.

Term:  this is the duration that your domain name will last for until it is due for renewing.  This means that if you have purchased a domain for two years you will receive notification that it is due to expire in advance.  Should you choose not to renew the domain then it will be put back up for sale but if you renew then you will pay the relevant fee and continue to use it for another two years.

Price:  this is the price (excl vat) that you will have to pay to register a domain name each time it is registered or renewed.

Although you can purchase a domain name from most internet companies very cheaply but once you have purchased your domain name and received your certificate of ownership what are you going to do with it? 

Please beware as the price does not include any hosting, emails, website forwarding etc and you may be charged quite a lot once you decide you would like to use your domain name for a website.  This is because sometimes you will have to pay a fee for it to be released to another company so that they can setup and host your email addresses and/or website.

Should you wish to register your domain with us but use another company for your website services then we  will not charge for releasing the details of your domain to the other company.  Your domain name will remain with us and when it is due for expiration you will just pay for either the renewal fee or a transfer fee should you wish to renew it with another company (transfer fees are the same price as renewal fees.)
